"The War on Drugs was a failure, but more importantly it was a farce – ultimately, drug laws were used as a tool to profile Black people and Black communities, in the name of public safety. The arrests and incarceration that resulted from the War on Drugs disrupted lives, separated families and caused great economic and social harm to Black and Brown communities. In the wake of cannabis legalization, these harms need to be repaired by requiring a social equity approach to all emerging cannabis markets."
